It's hard to believe that this session was just over a month ago, when it was *fall* and not suddenly winter! We were so grateful to get to spend some time with Julia and Andrew during their Boston Engagement Session at some of our favorite spots in Boston. Beacon Hill will always be one of the most beautiful places in our minds, so when these two decided to incorporate it into their session, along with the exact place they got engaged on Comm Ave, we were all in. It doesn't hurt that Julia and Andrew have to be some of the sweetest folks we've had the honor of photographing. We may sound like a broken record, but we are constantly blown away with the quality of people we get to work with. Talented, humble, personable, down to earth and just a whole lot of fun. That pretty much describes these two to a T. Julia and Andrew, we can't wait for next September. Your wedding is going to be such a great day!
Leah + Mike = Married
When Mike and Leah set out to plan their nuptials, they knew they wanted something historic, unique and fun. They wanted something that wasn't your traditional ballroom and chicken-dinner type wedding. When they told us about their plans to get married on a historic Riverboat on the Saint Croix off of Stillwater, we couldn't be more excited. Mike and our very own Matt go way back. I'm talking, they have been friends since they were in diapers. It's not often that we are invited to a wedding that we are also photographing, so it worked out to be a perfect fit to have our Midwest Associate Photographer Abby shoot their big day. Since Matt was in the wedding and I got to be a wedding guest (what do you mean I can eat and drink at a wedding? :)) it was fun to sit back and watch the action unfold from a guest's perspective, and then later catch up with Abby about all the fun she had with these two. Mike and Leah's wedding turned out to be exactly as they hoped, with an emphasis on the fun, and it was an honor to work with them. Mike and Leah, you know we love you guys and are so happy for you as you become a new family. Congratulations!
Audrey + Patrick = Married
There's nothing quite like a traditional wedding filled with class and sophistication. We love Audrey and Patrick's rendition of romance, and how they built their wedding around the laid-back elegance vibe. The Villa in East Bridgewater provided a lovely backdrop for their family and friends to gather together to celebrate these two, and the autumn sunshine made her appearance just in time for their outdoor ceremony and sun drenched portraits. Chuck had the privilege of working with Audrey and Patrick, and our good friend and talented photographer Katie accompanied him as the second shooter for the day. The results were flawless (as well as Audrey's bridal look, am I right?) and the photos are clearly evidence of their joy together. Audrey and Patrick, we are elated for you during this exciting time. Thank you for trusting us to capture your flawless wedding!
Erin + Koji = Expecting
There is no greater honor than repeat clients. Since we do weddings, this can be a tough one since (hopefully) our clients are just having one wedding in their lives. That's where family portraiture comes into play. Watching a couple grow in their life together is so much fun to photograph. It seems like just yesterday that we were shooting Erin and Koji's heartfelt wedding in Quincy, when in fact it was over two years ago! Now, they are at another exciting crossroads as they prepare to welcome their first child into their lives. They are both in the medical industry, and Erin is actually a midwife, so in many ways they are no strangers to pregnancy and babies. Chatting with them during their session at the Arnold Arboretum in Boston was another reassuring vote for the fact that these two are going to make stellar parents. I mean, really, amazing parents. That is one lucky baby, and we're excited to get him or her in front of the camera very soon and share more from this beautiful family. In the meanwhile, let's all cheer these two on in their journey to parenthood!
Ali + Adam = Married
We love so much about Ali and Adam's wedding. You really can't go wrong with a wedding on the cape in our minds. The sand and sun make anything better, so when you set a pretty little wedding right by the sea, magic happens. Ali and Adam share a beautiful love, and their wedding day was a fantastic reflection of their connection. The Hawthrone in Chatham, Mass served as a beautiful backdrop for their wedding day. Their entire wedding was filled with personal touches, including hand-made flower arrangements by the bridesmaids. And I don't know about you, but their array of cakes (plural!) is about the prettiest display of yum we've seen this season. Chuck was capturing all the goodness for this wedding, and each time we think he's outdone himself. Congratulations Ali and Adam. We wish you both years of wedded bliss!
Erica + Tim = Married
Erica and Tim's wedding was an event long in the making. They came to us early in their engagement, so we've had the privilege of getting to know these two quite well leading up to the wedding. It's always fun to follow along in an engagement like theirs, because we become confidants during the vendor hunt and planning process. Erica and Tim had The Towers in Narragansett all lined up for their reception, and were hoping to have the ceremony outside on the town green nearby. When that door closed during the process, they turned to a nearby Bed and Breakfast which turned out way better than they could have imagined. Their families occupied the B&B for the week and set up camp Erica and Tim. Erica and her maids got ready at the Inn while Tim and his guys hung out at his family's house nearby. They waited to see one another until the ceremony which made emotions run high for everyone involved. Tim's experience in the military typically leaves him strong and steadfast, but even he couldn't resist a tear as Erica made her way down the aisle. The celebration continued over at The Towers after the ceremony where their friends and families showered them with love in the form of witty toasts and even a song sung by Erica's father ("My Girl", for those of you who want to awwww with us). Overall, it was a smashing success filled with lots of love. What more can one ask for? Congratulations to the newlyweds!
Becca + Dan = Married
In the client department, we feel like we are winning. Nothing makes this job more fun than the people we get to work with. It's truly our joy to capture our couple's love stories, and Becca and Dan's Hubbell Homestead Wedding in Vermont is no exception. Chuck has been busy on Summer Street this fall, and he was privileged to capture Becca and Dan's wedding on a perfect September day. Matt and I enjoyed shooting at Hubbell in the past, so it's always fun to see how Chuck will capture the same space. Becca and Dan's wedding did not disappoint, where some of our favorite highlights included family contributions such as the hand made chuppah that Dan's family lovingly crafted with vines over a period of months. Their families also crafted the woodland centerpieces, so there was some serious talent running through their veins. We're obsessed with their sun drenched portraits, and think their newlywed glow is just about as beautiful as Chuck's handiwork behind the camera. Becca and Dan, we are so happy for you guys and know you deserve all the joy in the world. Congratulations!
Monica + Stephen = Married
We love this job for so many reasons, but one of the best is the diversity we see in how couples choose to celebrate their big day. Our biggest advice for couples planning their wedding (besides hiring a photographer you love, of course) is to stay true to personalizations throughout the venue and vendor choices. Ultimately, it's a day to kick off your marriage in whatever way you hope, and when couples stay true to this, magic happens. Monica and Stephen nailed this one on the head for their summer camp wedding in New Hampshire. They kept the gathering fun and interesting by hosting the wedding at North Woods Summer Camp and honored their values by selecting strictly vegan accompaniments. The food and attire were all vegan, and they used sustainable and renewable products whenever possible. The results were fantastic, and we're very jealous that Chuck got to capture this one without us. Congratulations to Monica and Stephen, and a job well done (as always) to Chuck!
Krystal + Patrick = Married
Krystal and Patrick were married on a beautiful September day in the state capitol of Minnesota (ten points if you're not from MN and know what city that is!) at the James J Hill Library downtown Saint Paul. These two, who currently call Chicago home, were set on hosting a classy yet laid back wedding that their friends and family could celebrate together after their long courtship leading up to their wedding. Our Midwest Associate Photographer Abby was there to capture all the action and clearly had a great time working with Krystal and Patrick and their kind crew of friends and family. We are so happy for you, Krystal and Patrick, and we wish you nothing but the best in your new adventure; marriage! Congratulations!
Jennifer + Dylan = Married
These two. This wedding. If I could have a mini Jen and Dylan to carry around in my pocket all day, I would. That sounds silly, but everyone who knows Jen and Dylan can attest to their ability to make you feel loved, cared for and encouraged. I daresay that these two together are going to make the world a better place. I started the day with Jennifer as she prepared to see Dylan for the first time at her parents home on the Portsmouth waterfront surrounded by her loving family and girlfriends. She was cool as a cucumber, and clearly beaming with excitement for what the day would hold. When she met up with Dylan, his adorable reaction to her bridal beauty literally brought tears of happiness to my eyes. They took me to some of their favorite spots in Portsmouth, where I was in photo heaven with these two stunners in front of the camera and the amazing scenery surrounding them (as evidence to the large number of couple portraits I just couldn't narrow down). Their ceremony was held at a stunning old church, where instead of a unity candle they poured ocean water from their respective coasts into a peach tree that they'll plant at their favorite place to relax. After the ceremony they had popcorn and lemonade for their guests to enjoy on the lawn of the church and then had a "popcorn parade" where all the guests walked over to the stunning Portsmouth Harbor Events Center for an evening of delicious food and dancing. It was a marvelous evening filled with loving toasts and a jam-packed dance floor where Jen and her best friends (and mom and grandma) showed off their dance moved to a Celine Dion song that they may have had an unhealthy relationship with. ;) Congratulations Jen and Dylan. We are so happy for you!
