Oh how we adore these two. Shannon and Mike were wed on the most perfect June day that was filled with joy, happiness and and outpouring of love from their friends and family who joined together to witness their long awaited union. Believe it or not, they met while studying abroad in Italy, but grew up just miles from one another (on a different note, they are currently honeymooning *in* Italy and we couldn't be more jealous...). It became quickly obvious to one another that they were meant to be, and they continued their relationship state side which eventually led us to the glorious day you see above. Humble, hard working and as genuinely kind as two people can be - Shannon and Mike deserve one another. It's been such a joy working with them and we couldn't be more happy for their future together. Congratulations you two! We wish you many years of wedded bliss.
Mike + Melaney = Engaged

We spent an enjoyable evening in the Arnold Arboretum with Melaney and Mike a few weeks back and are excited to share some of their Engagement Photos with you today. After a very busy month of shooting, editing and diving into the craziness of wedding season, it feels good to take a moment to slow down and enjoy looking at photos like these. It's far too easy for us to keep trucking forward at 100 miles per hour going from session to session and doing our thing, but more often than not, it's best for us to slow down and notice the sweet ways our couples interact with one another. The little glances, the snuggles and the way their hands fit together. Melaney and Mike are a perfect example of just how good two people can be together. I love the way they laugh around one another, and how you can just tell that everything is right with the world when they are near one another. It's so very sweet and we are honored to get to capture their (and all our couples) love. You'll see their sweetness again on the blog after their Endicott Estate wedding this fall, which is bound to be a beautiful day!
Patricia + Alix = Married

It's always a special treat when the impending forecast says rain for ten days before a wedding day, only to be welcomed by the clouds rolling back to reveal a calm sunny sky on the morning of the wedding. All of that was really just a cherry on top of a really sweet sundae, however, because nothing could have dampened Patricia and Alix's spirits on their wedding day. When we arrived to capture getting ready photos of the two of them, they were each surrounded by their large loving bridal parties who were busy getting ready themselves - and both Patricia and Alix were like the calm eye of the storm....joyful, grounded and so ready to become husband and wife. They saw one another for the first time as Patricia walked down the aisle, and Alix's grin was so large it was as through his face was going to split in half. After their heartfelt vows and an amazing musical performance by a few of their friends - they sealed their ceremony with a kiss and danced down the aisle as husband and wife. The celebration continued at the Lake View Pavillon where their guests showered them with hugs, heartfelt toasts and a packed dance floor. Patricia and Alix, it's been a true joy working with the two of you. We wish you so many years of happiness together and know your future together can bring nothing but sunny skies. Congratulations!
Deirdre + Casey = Engaged

I'm calling the cuteness overload police on this shoot. Seriously. When you have a couple as darling as Deirdre and Casey and you mix in an adorable styled picnic from the ladies at Whim Events, only amazing things can happen. Deirdre and Casey have a thing for wine and cheese (can we be bffs?) so it was only natural that the picnic be based on their love for good food, drinks and each other. The early summer light was on its best behavior so you can imagine that we were as giddy as school kids running around one of our locations with this bunch. You'll see these two again next summer after we shoot their wedding at Alden Castle - it's going to be an amazing day!
Andrea + Geoff = Engaged

I'm so in love with Andrea and Geoff's Engagement Photos. Between their adorable outfits and crisp colors of Beacon Hill, they just scream summer in Boston, don't they? Our Associate - aka bad ass Photographer Chuck will be shooting Andrea and Geoff's wedding next month and so it was only natural that he shoot their Engagement Session as well. We've had the pleasure of meeting Andrea and Geoff in person as well and I can say that their relaxed west-coast vibe and New England roots make for an adorable pair. We can't wait to see what sort of magic unveils at their Lyman Estate Wedding in July! It's going to be an amazing day.
Connie + Tim = Engaged

Connie and Tim are slated to be wed next January in Hong Kong, and while we won't get the opportunity to fly across the world to photograph them, we were able to shoot a fun engagement session in Cambridge where Tim is working on a short term stint. Connie flew down from Canada to spend some time with him before she moves to Hong Kong until their wedding - so its always sweet to photograph a copule who is in the middle of a long distance relationship because they just can't get enough of one another. Clearly these two had no problems warming up in front of the camera as we dashed raindrops in Harvard Square. We loved that they had matching converse sneakers for the first half of their session. If the photos aren't evidence enough, they were so sweet with one another which made our job a breeze. Congratulations on your Engagement, Connie and Tim, and we wish you nothing but the best as you finalize all your wedding plans for January!
Ingrid + Kristofor = Married

Feel free to ignore me down here and just go ahead and re-load this blog post and look at the photos again. It's okay, I'll wait.
Okay, you back? You still breathing? Because Iceland was literally breath taking. Many folks who don't know Ingrid and Kris but knew that we were headed to Iceland to shoot a wedding always asked us two things: 1) Are they Icelandic? and 2) Why Iceland? To clear up those two things first; Ingrid and Kris are American and they chose to have a destination wedding in Iceland for many reasons, but the primary reason being the absolutely stunning landscape and beauty of the place. We knew going into the wedding that it was going to be an amazing experience, but we really had no idea how austerely beautiful the weekend would be. It was other-worldly in many ways. As we drove three hours north from the airport in Keflavik we were quickly greeted by stunning volcano-mountains and lava rock plains. Civilization seemed to lull to a place of prehistoric proportions, and we had to laugh when we entered a stretch in the drive where the only radio station that came in clearly was an abstract fog horn musical composition. So very cool and Scandinavian.
As if the landscapes weren't enough to get us excited; when we finally pulled into Ingrid and Kris' wedding location, Hotel Budir, we were greeted by a cozy hotel on the shores of the Atlantic. In many ways it was in the middle of no where - but it felt very idyllic and community-like with roaming dogs and wedding guests arriving with hugs and excitement for the weekend to come. Ingrid and Kris welcomed their guests with a twilight dinner (the sun doesn't really go down until 11:00pm or so, and even then it doesn't get truly dark) that we were able to enjoy with the guests. On the morning of the wedding Matt and I ventured out to see some scenic views (and take photos of course) while the wedding party started to ready themselves for the big day. When we arrived to photograph Ingrid and Kris getting ready for the ceremony, excitement was high and laughter was plentiful. Despite the drizzly weather conditions we managed to take some portraits of them outside amongst the stunning landscapes. We were in photo heaven! The ceremony was held in the cutest little chapel up the road from the hotel which ended with the sweetest rendition of 'My Favorite Things' from The Sound of Music on the small church organ. The celebration continued back at the hotel with some amazing food, heartfelt toasts, an adorable first dance and all ages of guests rocking out the dance floor. We had to take the opportunity to grab a few more couple portraits at sunset (aka, 10:45pm) and were so glad we did since the rain had stopped by then and we were able to see more of the snow capped mountains. Ingrid and Kris, we are so grateful for the opportunity to work with you and capture such a special time in your lives. Til Hamingju!!!
Erin + Andrew = Engaged

We knew when we arrived to photograph Erin and Andrew and were greeted by a grinning Erin with a slew of colorful balloons that this was going to be an awesome shoot. We spent a casual weekend morning photographing the two of them on the beach Andrew grew up on, and had a blast chatting about their wedding plans this coming August, hearing about their long distance relationship (he in NJ and she in RI) as they pursue their professional training and finally enjoying a delicious brunch at an adorable local townie diner (that part was fortunately or unfortunately not photographed...). As Matt and I drove home from the shoot we were yet again left with the question that constantly boggles our mind; "How did we get so lucky?" We feel so blessed to have to opportunity to tell the love stories of such incredible people like Erin and Andrew. We simply can not *wait* for their wedding this August...it's going to be an amazing day!
Baby June

Okay. So if you made it all the way to the end of this series of photos and you have not stopped to say, 'awwwww' you should probably just get off the internet - because there is *no way* you're going to find anything sweeter than Meredith, Andres, baby June and their pup Eleanor. The belly button? The little tiny fingers? The giant puppy dog eyes? I just can't. Little June was clearly ready for her spotlight in front of the camera as the evidence above shows. She was an absolute peach during her session - no whining, fussing or crying (even after pulling an all nighter!)....just the sweetest little cheeks and fingers this side of the Charles. Welcome to the world, little June!
Cara + Jesse = Married

American writer Ambrose Bierce once wrote, "Patience is a minor form of despair that is disguised as a virtue." I really can't think of a better way to start Cara and Jesse's weddings story than that. The story really begins back in March when they originally had planned to wed at the beautiful Willowdale Estate. Due to unforeseen circumstances that were outside anyones control on the morning of their original wedding day back in March, the wedding was forced to be rescheduled for a different date. It was a huge disappointment for everyone, but deep down I knew that when their wedding day *did* finally happen, that it was going to be an amazing day worth the wait. Unfortunately for Matt and I who were originally slated to shoot their wedding, the rescheduled date fell on a day that we already had another event scheduled. As fate would have it, our new Associate Photographer Chuck was available, along with our good friend and super talented Boston Photographer, Li from Fat Orange Cat Studio. Li and Chuck joined forces to capture Cara and Jesse's wedding in a way that was truly seamless and amazing (if the above evidence wasn't proof enough!) and we simply can't get enough of the results. Just like when Chuck works with us on a regular basis, we collected the images straight out of their cameras and got to work editing the photos after the wedding and spent many hours that followed exactly as we do with weddings that we shoot ourselves. We relive the moments (or get to see them for the first time in this case) and laugh, sniffle (you think I'm joking) and smile our way through working on the images. After working on Cara and Jesse's images and seeing the absolutely perfect wedding day that they had, I have to believe that it really was all meant to be this way. Congratulations Cara and Jesse, and a huge thank you to Chuck and Li for joining Summer Street to make this wedding incredible!
Lucy + Matt = Engaged

Don't even get me started on how cute these two are together. Matt's eyes light up when he's around Lucy, and Lucy always seems to be giggling at something Matt is saying or doing. They are the couple you see strolling down the street and are so natural and sweet together that they make other people jealous. They both have hearts of gold and it's clear they deserve one another. We met up with them on a calm week night in the Boston Public Garden to catch the end of the spring blooms before the heat of summer sets in. We laughed and shared stories, including hearing about Lucy's childhood modeling stint as a shoebox cover model (perhaps you've seen her in the early 90's? The ginger sporting a bowl cut?). She sent us photo proof of the hair after their session and we were this close to blogging that as well. We can't wait for their cozy December wedding!
Betsy

Sometimes we have to pinch ourselves. How did we get so lucky that we get to photograph such happy things all the time? Betsy's photo session was full of LIFE and JOY. I mean, how can spending an hour in the park with a bubbly eight year old, two dogs, a slew of toys and a giant grassy hill just begging to roll down ever be a bad time? Quite simply, it can't. Betsy's parents thought it was due time that she have a fun portrait session all to her self, and why not? Soon enough she'll be grabbing the car keys and heading off to college. We love capturing little everyday moments in families lives and our time with Betsy was no exception.
Colleen + Nick = Engaged

Okay guys, we have a confession. We are not very cool. I mean it. We spend our spare time gardening, geeking out over how various types of flour and butter combinations affects baked goods and we rarely go to bed past 11:00. Colleen and Nick though. They are cool. Hip, in fact. So much so that we hope that even by shooting their engagement session and wedding this August that some of their awesomeness will rub off on us. They came up from NYC (see? cool) to spend a little time getting acquainted with being in front of the camera on Boston's waterfront. We had to take advantage of the perfectly grimy alley ways to grab some fun shots of them looking awesome (they didn't even have to try) and threw in a few shots by the water and skyline for good measure. Of course their time spent with us only reinforced their coolness, but what we really loved watching was their genuine spirits and big hearts. We left their session feeling pretty much ready to move in next door and start planning casual dinner parties with bruschetta and wine. We can't wait for their wedding later this summer which will no doubt be filled with amazing details (did I mention she works for Real Simple?) and lots of love.
Emily + Dan = Engaged

Emily and Dan are so natural together. They have a relaxed vibe that is approachable and kind. Can't you just see that in their eyes? College sweethearts and lovers of the beach and Fenway, these two are folks we like to be around. We spent a relaxing afternoon together capturing photos of their Engagement in Boston's Beacon Hill neighborhood and the Esplanade....which isn't on the ocean but just so happens to have a waterfront on the Charles River where the sun faces *west* (think about it....since we're on the East Coast we can never have sunset beachy photos) so the spot is our own little secret for a relaxed seaside vibe with realllllyy good light. We had a great time getting to know them even better and they clearly are naturals in front of the camera. We can't wait for their Ocean Edge Resort wedding this August. It's going to be an amazing day!
Gaby + Luis = Engaged

Is there anything more romantic than an Engagement Session in the springtime? After a winter filled with snow, dark skies, dirty boots and more snow, the entire city of Boston has lifted their spirits at the sights of green grass, budding trees and cherry blossoms. Even the air smells different. There comes no better time to capture love and new beginnings than during the spring. We met up with Gaby, Luis and their pup Cocoa for an afternoon of moseying through the Boston Public Garden and taking photos of this special time in their lives. They are getting married later this month in Mexico and wanted to capture a session in the city they met and fell in love. We had a blast getting to know them and clearly they warmed up to the camera in no time. In fact we had to ask them several times if they were sure they were not professional models. I mean really, would you look at those two? Congratulations Gaby and Luis, enjoy Mexico!!
